I hope everyone has done their shopping; there is not much time left.
I know many of you are like me, and wait until the 23rd to get all of your presents for your loved ones.
We will be open for last minute shoppers on the 23rd until 6:00pm.
As you will read, we have many specials on BMW apparel as well as some special bikes.
We have a K1, HP2, and all of the new 06 models to name a few. I recently started to ride a K1200R to and from the shop.
If you do not want a new bike, don’t ride this one. I have not had this much fun on a bike ever! For all of our adventure riders, please go to www.rawhyde-offroad.com and sign up for the secret adventure rally. The location has to be found using your brain and waypoints provided by Jim Hyde and his staff. This event will be strongly attended, and it is very important to sign up early. The rally will be held the weekend of February 4th, so set you calendars and we will see you there. I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season from all of us here at the shop and my family. Thanks for helping make 2005 a great year for Iron Horse Motorcycles. We look forward to next year and hope to see you all soon. John, Jen, Laine and Ella |

Avoid the Winter Time Blues Here are some tips from our service department to keep your bike happy in the cold weather. Cold weather can sap the starting power from your battery so make sure to keep your battery on a tender if you go more than a week in between rides. If your bike isn’t cranking when you hit the starter, STOP trying to start your bike. You can damage electrical components (starter relays) trying to start your bike with low voltage. Charge your battery to full charge before attempting to start your bike again. Turn off any accessories like driving lights which draw high current, but which may not be on the load shed before cranking the starter. If you are riding in the chilly weather, most likely you are running your heated grips, seats, or vests to stay warm. These extra electrical items will increase the load on the charging system and the alternator belt, so make sure that your alternator belt is in good shape (check every 24k and replace before 36k). Many newer bikes have low maintenance batteries. Make sure you clean any corrosion off the terminals. If you have a lead acid battery, ensure
the fluid levels are correct. If not, add distilled water. If you find your bike sitting for longer periods of time without being ridden you should consider adding stabilizer to your fuel. Fill you tank with fresh gas and a fuel stabilizer and drive the bike a few miles to get the newly treated fuel through your system. This will keep your fuel from gumming up the fuel injectors and other components. You can buy the Stabil brand gas stabilizer in the Parts Department. |
