Arizona Department of Environmental Quality  Announces Public Hearings on Motorcycle Emissions Testing.  The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) will hold public hearings to receive comments on proposed changes to Arizona’s vehicle emissions inspection and maintenance programs.  In 2005, the Arizona Legislature passed House Bill 2357, which exempts collectible vehicles in the Phoenix and Tucson testing areas and exempts motorcycles in the Tucson testing area.  ADEQ will submit a revised air quality State Implementation Plan (SIP) to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requesting approval of these exemptions.  See more info on when and where this meeting will be held in Tucson...
John Cartwright and the new R1200GSThe weather we all know and love is back! Last night I had all my gear on and went for a short ride through the desert.  The temperature was perfect, and the stars were out in force.  Sometimes I wonder why I have been in this business for nearly half of my life; and in one moment, it all becomes clear again.  I love motorcycles and the way they make me feel.  I also really love the new bikes BMW has been making.  For the first time since I have been selling these bikes, we are winning over the press.  Winning bike of the year, best touring bike and best adventure bike has brought many new faces into the dealership.

We have just received a very large shipment of BMW riding apparel consisting mostly of the Savanna II and the Tourgard jackets at greatly reduced prices.  We also have a large number of gloves and boots for all temperatures. See the parts section below for prices.

I hope to see those of you who have been hibernating this past summer. John

Riding Tips - "Pre-Flight" Checklist

- Check tire air pressure and tread depth
- Check oil level
- Check that oil filler plug is tight
- Check brake and/or clutch fluid levels
- If appropriate, check water level
- Check that shock pre-load is adequate for the load
- Check that headlight and tail/brake lights work
- Secure the side cases (make sure the bottom mounting tab is engaged)
- Check luggage straps for tightness
- Walk around the bike and inspect for fluid leaks

Vary the checklist according to your needs.  Daily and weekly needs will be different.  Are you fully loaded for a long trip or just going to work?  Have you just gassed up...and are looking forward to another 200 miles on the road?  Why not keep an eye on your buddies bike, too, and let he or she know if anything's amiss.

And most important...ensure you're well-rested and alert!
